Upcoming Events

Howdy everyone! There are a good number of events that we will be having to kick off the start of the new semester, which you can find times, locations, and descriptions of below:

8/31 (Friday) 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.--Ergothon in Rudder Plaza

For those of you who don’t know, “erg” is the word most rowers call a rowing machine, or ergometer. At Ergothon, we will have two rowing machines in Rudder Plaza with at least one of our team members completing a nonstop, four hour row! We will also have a table set up with members you can talk to about the team, and for the brave of heart, there will be opportunities to learn how to row properly on the erg! Please feel free to come by and say hi!

 

9/2 (Sunday) 1 - 5 p.m.--MSC Open House

We will have a table set up at MSC Open House! If you’d like to talk with a coach or get first-hand information from team members, this is a great event to come to!

 

9/4 (Tuesday) 6:15-7 p.m.--Informational in Rec Room 281

Here we will discuss all the finer details of the team and what you can expect if you chose to apply and join!!

 

9/5 (Wednesday) 8 - 10 p.m.--Ice Cream Social!

The ice cream social is a Crew tradition! This is a great opportunity to start connecting with other team members and begin becoming a true part of the team yourself! (and get free Blue Bell ice cream). Location is TBA!

 

Friday 9/7 from 5 -  7 p.m. and Saturday 9/8 from 8 - 10 a.m.--Learn to Row at Lake Bryan

You'll get the chance to hop in a boat with experienced team members and see if the sport is something you want to commit to! We will be at Lake Bryan both days. Plan to wear spandex shorts, a t-shirt, and flip flops/sandals/sneakers, or the appropriate athletic wear depending on the weather. It costs $5 to enter Lake Bryan so plan on either bringing cash or you can carpool with some members on the team!

This is the address for the Lake Bryan Icehouse. If you go past it all the way down to the end of the main road, you'll see the boatyard and our metal shipping container on your right near to the water.  

Applying to Crew:

Our application for the fall 2018 season will be opening this week while all of these events are happening! Please email externalrelations@crew.tamu.edu with your name if you are interested in applying, and the application will be sent to you when it is made available.

 

Assumption of Risk (AOR) forms:

ALL participants MUST fill out and have an AOR APPROVED by Rec Sports/Sport Clubs prior to participation in the Learn to Rows. Here is the link:

Log in and select “Crew” under the “Join A Club” dropdown bar, and the AOR should be under “Agreements” at the top of the page. If you have any issues or questions about filling out the AOR, please email externalrelations@crew.tamu.edu and/or secretary@crew.tamu.edu ASAP!

Applying for Crew:

When the application for the fall 2018 season is released (during the week of 9/2-9/8), it will be posted here and on our Facebook.
